Christmas Clearing Council Seeks Sponsors for Children in Need for 2007 Holiday Season
Christmas Clearing Council of Waukesha County, Inc. (CCC) is seeking businesses, organizations, clubs, schools and individuals to sponsor children in need in Waukesha County for the 2007 holiday season.  CCC’s seasonal office will open October 22 to take calls from those wishing to make the holiday season brighter for area children. For those willing to help, the CCC will match a family or organization with a family in need.   Families with children of all ages are available as well as single child or multiple child households.  Infants, toddlers and teenagers are greatly in need of sponsorship.  Interpreters are available for those who are willing to sponsor a Spanish-speaking family.

Sponsorship involves purchasing toys or clothing in the amount of $60 per child.  Sponsors must deliver their gifts of Christmas toys or clothing personally by December 12.  Interested sponsors are encouraged to call (262) 549-NOEL (6635).  Beginning October 22 CCC will be taking calls Monday through Thursday from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. and Friday from 9 a.m. until noon.  Starting November 12 the CCC office will also take calls Monday evenings from 6 until 8.  CCC also accepts donations at Waukesha County Christmas Clearing Council, P.O. Box 34, Waukesha, WI 53187.

In 2006 over 2,000 Waukesha County children were sponsored through CCC.  However, sponsors were not found for about 900 children.  Families who are not matched with sponsors through the program are invited to come to the CCC Toy Shop to shop for community-donated gifts and clothing items for their children. CCC toy donation sites will be set up throughout the community starting November 1.“Although we do help families that do not find a sponsor by inviting them to our Toy Shop, sponsorship allows for a personal connection and an opportunity to specifically fulfill a family’s needs,” says Ruth Jones, CCC’s executive director.  “Many of our sponsors tell us that CCC sponsorship is the highlight of their holiday season and a wonderful way to give back to the community.”

In existence since 1949, the CCC is a nonprofit group of volunteers that match needy families with individuals and groups who want to help less fortunate children on a person-to-person basis during the holiday season.

CCC makes Christmas brighter for thousands in Waukesha County

Thanks to the support of volunteers, families, organizations and businesses in Waukesha County, Christmas Clearing Council of Waukesha County (CCC) made Christmas brighter for nearly 3,000 children this season. Nearly 450 volunteers and numerous businesses and organizations took part, collecting toys and assisting in the sponsoring of children as well as helping at CCC’s annual Toy Shop.  In 2006, 2,014 children were sponsored by members of the Waukesha County community.  Parents of 896 unsponsored children were invited to shop for their children at Toy Shop, held Dec. 16, 2006, an annual event run entirely by volunteers and supplied with toy and clothes donations from the community.  It is the firm belief of CCC that no child should miss out on the magic that is Christmas.  CCC is a local, all-volunteer, nonprofit organization that promotes and coordinates giving to low-income children of Waukesha County during the Christmas season.

CCC Honors Four With 2007 Angel Award
In March 2007, Christmas Clearing Council of Waukesha County (CCC) announced the recipients for the first-ever Angel Award. Recipients were chosen based on their strong commitment to furthering the mission of CCC in 2006.

Colleen Martin, Waukesha County Health and Human Services liaison to the board, has served the board for 8 years and resides in Waukesha, Wis. A longtime supporter of CCC, owner Norm Bruce of Martha Merrell's Books understands the need to supply less fortunate children of Waukesha County with quality books. Bruce gives discounts to patrons who wish to purchase books for CCC and is the primary supplier of Spanish books for CCC's annual Toy Shop in December. Parishioners of St. John Neumann Catholic Church, Waukesha, have consistently sponsored twenty or more families each year for more than a decade, impacting the lives of thousands of children in Waukesha County. More than 750 Waukesha Girl Scouts from the Prairie Hill Service Unit, Great Blue Heron Girl Scouts, participated in "One to Wear, One to Share," a project making fleece hats or headbands and matching scarves to "wear" and one set to "share" with a child in need. Together they supplied 785 children at our Toy Shop with new hats and scarves for the 2006 Christmas season. The unit includes 81 troops from the Waukesha School District.
